Pilot draft

Terms of use

Welcome to BETA. This is a pilot, so this agreement will keep changing as we learn. If anything below is unclear, use the report form and we’ll look at it.

Who can use BETA

During the pilot: anyone with an account or an invitation from the BETA team. You must be 18 or older.

What you agree to

  • Only post betas you actually intend to run.
  • Only apply to betas you intend to complete in good faith.
  • Don’t collect personal information from participants beyond what the beta itself asks for.
  • Don’t use the reporting system to retaliate against other users or flood the admin team.
  • Don’t scrape, resell, or mirror BETA content.

What BETA does and doesn’t do

BETA is an orchestration layer. Creators own the betas they post, including surveys, research protocols, and results.

BETA does not:

  • Collect data on behalf of a creator — the creator uses their own tool (Google Form, Figma prototype, Meet link).
  • Fulfill creator-funded rewards (airtime, data, vouchers, cash). The creator pays those directly to participants.
  • Act as a research-ethics board. If your beta involves sensitive topics or vulnerable groups, get your institutional approvals first.

Rewards

BETA points are a reputation signal — they show your participation history on your profile. They’re not a currency. We may adjust how points are awarded as the pilot runs.

Creator-funded rewards (airtime, data, vouchers) are separate — handled directly between the creator and the participant. BETA doesn’t touch that money.

Content and privacy

See Privacy for what we collect and how it’s used.

Account suspension and termination

We may suspend accounts that violate these terms, especially around safety or abuse. You can delete your account from your profile at any time.

Changes to these terms

These terms will change during the pilot. We’ll show a visible notice at the top of the site when they do.

Contact

Use the report form for non-urgent issues. For urgent safety concerns, email the BETA team directly (contact given at onboarding).
